Teaching and Learning: Differentiation doesn’t work?
Differentiation, one of education’s sacred cows has been taking some punishment recently. In this controversial and pull no punches article for Education Week, James Delisle took issue with differentiation and sparked a debate which attracted robust replies from differentiation gurus such as Carol Ann Tomlinson (whose own research on differentiation interestingly found that it was extremely difficult to do in any practical way). Anyway, over to you, what do you think? Does differentiation work and if it does which strategies work a) best b) easiest to implement and sustainable? Tip of the hat to Mr Clark for the article
Creating Inclusive Environments
Tip of the hat to Ms Osborne for this superb graphic from @tersonya, who has also written a blogpost on this topic which also contains the graphic.
The Australian Principal Standards
The Australian Principal Standards have a simplified version which includes actual practical examples. Well worth a look for aspiring leaders to compare themselves against as it can be easily adapted for middle leadership roles as well. The full standard (without actual examples) can be found here.
